Melrose Quartet: “Appalachian, from the singing of Jean Ritchie via Peter Bellamy.” Cecil Sharp and Maud Karpeles collected it in 1917 from Hillard Smith in Hindman, Kentucky, where Jean Ritchie also spent part of her life.
